I specialize in the critical analysis of digital platforms, integrating sociology, film economics, and information and communication technologies. My research journey began with the study of open science platforms in Latin America. Subsequently, I expanded my approach to investigate collaborative funding in documentary filmmaking. More recently, I have conducted transnational research that examines in depth the implications and challenges arising from the fragmentation of intellectual property in cinematographic and audiovisual works, particularly when leveraging digital and cryptographic assets managed through blockchain-based platforms.

Recipient of the UNAM’s Alfonso Caso Medal in 2018 for academic and professional excellence, I hold a Master’s degree in sociology from the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico and a Master’s degree in documentary cinema from the Faculty of Arts and Design of the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

I earned a Ph.D. with distinction through an international co-tutelle program, receiving degrees in Film Studies from the Université de Montréal and Information and Communication Sciences from Sorbonne Nouvelle University. My dissertation, which explored the multiple impacts of blockchain technology on the movie industry, analyzing its epistemological, legal, and financial implications, as well as the challenges and opportunities it presents. My doctoral research was supported by the Foundation of the National Institute of Fine Arts and the National Council for Science and Technology of Mexico.

Through curating and programming film cycles and screenings, I have made a significant contribution to the promotion and dissemination of Mexican and Latin American cinema. I have presented my work in spaces such as the Cultural Institute of the Consulate General of Mexico in Montreal, the Maison du Mexique at the Cité universitaire internationale de Paris (CIUP), and the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle. I am particularly interested in films directed by women and Indigenous women, whose decolonial gaze challenges the Hollywood canon

My five years of experience at the CinéMédias Laboratory allowed me to contribute to a variety of international scientific communication projects, solidifying my expertise in the convergence of cinema, technology, and culture.

As Content Coordinator for FilminLatino, the video-on-demand platform of the Mexican Film Institute (IMCINE), I played a key role in organizing the platform’s extensive catalog.

In 2019, I published a study on film audiences in Mexico City, commissioned by ProCine DF, the Mexican film promotion agency.

As part of my involvement with the international community of new economies, I led the programming and project management of initiatives in collaboration with the Spanish Cooperation Agency, the Goethe-Institut Mexiko, and the Inter-American Development Bank. My work contributes to a critical reflection on the evolving paradigms of audiovisual creation and distribution.
